{"id":15815,"date":"2020-03-14T00:30:11","date_gmt":"2020-03-14T03:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mundoagropecuario.cl\/new\/?p=15815"},"modified":"2020-03-19T12:49:43","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T15:49:43","slug":"desarrollan-papa-transgenica-resistente-al-tizon-tardio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mundoagropecuario.cl\/new\/desarrollan-papa-transgenica-resistente-al-tizon-tardio\/","title":{"rendered":"Desarrollan papa transg\u00e9nica resistente al tiz\u00f3n tard\u00edo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Una de las principales enfermedades que ataca a la papa en Chile y en el mundo es el tiz\u00f3n tard\u00edo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Esta enfermedad constituye una limitaci\u00f3n importante para los productores de papa, con un costo estimado de US$ 3-10 mil millones anuales a nivel mundial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> En ciertas regiones del mundo, el hongo causante de esto puede destruir hasta el 60-100 por ciento de una cosecha del tub\u00e9rculo. Los agricultores usan fungicidas para controlarlo, pero debido a que el costo de esos agroqu\u00edmicos puede llegar a representar entre el 10 al 25 por ciento del valor de la cosecha de un agricultor, los ingresos para los agricultores se reducen significativamente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero hay esperanza para los productores del tub\u00e9rculo. En Uganda, donde aproximadamente 300.000 peque\u00f1os agricultores cultivan papa, se ha trabajado en desarrollar una papa transg\u00e9nica resistente justamente al tiz\u00f3n tard\u00edo. La papa que a\u00fan no se ha lanzado comercialmente podr\u00eda contribuir a lograr mayores rendimientos a menores costos de producci\u00f3n y menor exposici\u00f3n a fungicidas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las partes interesadas estiman una tasa de adopci\u00f3n del 40-50% para la nueva variedad en los primeros 15 a\u00f1os una vez que se lance al mercado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Dr. Charles Mugoya, presidente del Comit\u00e9 Nacional de Bioseguridad de Uganda, explic\u00f3 los posibles beneficios y limitaciones de la variedad. \u201cUsando la variedad transg\u00e9nica \u201c3R Victoria\u201d, los agricultores tendr\u00e1n que gastar menos dinero en aplicaci\u00f3n de fungicidas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Los comerciantes tendr\u00e1n que usar un etiquetado claro al comprar y comercializar el nuevo producto y tambi\u00e9n deber\u00e1n mantener los tub\u00e9rculos 3R Victoria separados de otros tub\u00e9rculos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las compa\u00f1\u00edas de semillas que vender\u00e1n estas semillas 3R ser\u00e1n registradas e inspeccionadas para mantener una buena administraci\u00f3n, l\u00edneas de producci\u00f3n separadas y empacar semillas b\u00e1sicas en bolsas etiquetadas para transg\u00e9nico\u201d, explic\u00f3 el regulador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cUna tasa de adopci\u00f3n\nestimada del 40 al 50% representa una fuerte evidencia de que los agricultores\nen este pa\u00eds desean tener acceso a estas papas resistentes al tiz\u00f3n tard\u00edo y se\nbeneficiar\u00e1n de ellas de m\u00faltiples maneras\u201d, dijo el Dr. Marc Ghislain,\nbiotecn\u00f3logo s\u00e9nior del Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP) y l\u00edder del grupo\npara el Programa de Investigaci\u00f3n del CGIAR sobre Ra\u00edces, Tub\u00e9rculos y Pl\u00e1tanos\n(RTB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los estudios realizados por cient\u00edficos del CIP y la\nOrganizaci\u00f3n Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n Agr\u00edcola (NARO) desde 2015 han\nconfirmado que la papa Victoria 3R es completamente resistente a la enfermedad\ndel tiz\u00f3n tard\u00edo y segura para el consumo humano y el medio ambiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">En el plano nacional, el doctor en Ciencias Biol\u00f3gicas y Director Ejecutivo de ChileBio, Miguel \u00c1ngel S\u00e1nchez, valor\u00f3 esta iniciativa que podr\u00eda beneficiar a muchos pa\u00edses incluido Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u201cNuestro pa\u00eds es productor de papas, donde el tiz\u00f3n es fuente de preocupaci\u00f3n, generando gastos y menores ganancias para los productores, de los cuales la mayor\u00eda son peque\u00f1os agricultores&#8221;, agreg\u00f3 S\u00e1nchez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soluciones biotecnol\u00f3gicas como esta nueva papa, abre la perspectiva de que organismos p\u00fablicos o privados trabajen en soluciones similares made in Chile\u201d, indica S\u00e1nchez. \u201cEs de esperar que las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas favorezcan este tipo de soluciones en el pa\u00eds\u201d, afirm\u00f3 el Director Ejecutivo de ChileBio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Una de las principales enfermedades que ataca a la papa en Chile y en el mundo es el tiz\u00f3n tard\u00edo.
